Our story began in 1971 when Ed Dueck started working in construction at the age of sixteen.

He began as an apprentice at Dueck Brothers Construction, his cousin’s company. At the time, they were building apartments and parkades in Vancouver. This was a time when nail guns were a rare tool on the job site, and plywood was an emerging product. It was hand nails, shiplap boards and old school hard work that completed the job. However, Ed had a knack for it and it was not long before he and his cousin Werner, ventured out to start their very own framing company.

While most of his high school friends were barely graduated, Ed had already started buying homes and building for himself, while framing full time.

Dueck contracting has since become a father and son business, which has maintained a philosophy of client relationships’ built on trust. This philosophy can be seen on their projects, and reflected in the testimonials from their clients.

Dueck contracting is a family business that has been serving clients throughout the lower mainland for over 40 years. They specialize in building custom homes with a focus on quality forming and framing. They believe in the old adage that a great project starts at the foundation.

Being a small family business means that they, as the owners of the company, are on site every day ensuring that your project is getting done on time and in a safe manner. They focus on efficiency and quality craftsmanship.

Their services include formwork, wood framing and general contracting; focusing mainly in the single family residential sector. Although their portfolio of experience extends far beyond, they have found they are able to best serve their clients focusing on residential custom homes and renovations. Their collective experience over the past 45 years has allowed them to build many long standing relationships. Most of their work comes from repeat clients, some of whom go back to the “Vancouver special” days. This commitment to their craft is what sets them apart. These differences matter because it helps their clients achieve peace of mind, knowing that there are highly qualified people putting their best interests’ first. Building your home requires hundreds of decisions to be made, large and small, and sometimes on the fly. Making the right choice of contractor will make all the difference in the end.
